Burleigh has many places in close proximity which are of interest to the tourist and indeed many locals. To the north of Burleigh and well serviced by bus is Surfers Paradise with its many nightclubs and bars. Many younger tourists enjoy the nightlife Surfers has to offer.

Southport is one of the main business and commercial areas of the Gold Coast with many government offices here as well at the Gold Coast Hospital and a major shopping centre called Australia Fair. For something a little closer, check out Pacific Fair at Broadbeach for a range of shopping.

There are many activities and sporting and recreational clubs on the Gold Coast and those staying at Burleigh do not have far to go for something different.

With Brisbane not too far away and only about an hour on the train tourists can take in a show, visit the museum and art gallery or spend an afternoon strolling around the ever popular Southbank which is at present undergoing radical rebuilding works due to the floods earlier this year.

To the West is the hinterland and an area known as the scenic rim. Here are some amazing towns and villages with quaint buildings, art and craft shops local produce for sale and a wealth of history. Mount Tambourine has some old world guest houses and restaurants along with same amazing views in all directions. Other towns such as Beechmont, Canungra, Beaudesert, Rathdowny, Boonah and Rosevale to name a few all have much to offer the visitor.

There are some amazing art galleries to visit and local artists are many in these rural areas. Wineries in this area produce some great wines and the chefs at local establishment work hard at producing some mouth watering meal to tempt the weary adventurer returning from bush walking, horse riding, rock climbing and many other wild activities.

There is much to see and do in the beautiful hinterland behind Burleigh with natural bush land, waterfalls creeks and rivers, large dams, rolling hills and mountains. There are plenty of accommodation options available, great places to eat and friendly locals. Only a short drive from Burleigh and you are there for a day or a cosy weekend.
